The 'Near West End' is generally considered to comprise the western areas within the City limits plus those located just across the line in Henrico County. Westhampton, Cary Street, University Heights, Tuckahoe and U of R are all terms sometimes used to describe the area surrounding the University of Richmond and the Country Club of Virginia.
The area is home to not only some of the most expensive homes in Richmond, it is also home to some of the most spectacular. Three Chopt Road, Westham Parkway and Cary Street Road/River Road all offer some of the most extraordinary homes in the Metro. The manicured estate lots, diverse architecture and pride in ownership combine to make a trek along any of these streets as visually engaging as any section of Richmond.
Homes in the Near West End can also be affordable, especially along Patterson Avenue, as the scale is less grand than those immediately around U of R.
